How Does Vending Machine Transport Work?

Vending machines are hard to move from one place to another because of their bulky shape. Not to mention, they can be very heavy. On average, a vending machine weighs approximately about 639 lbs. Also, some vending machines are specially designed with a glass front or a stack vendor, affecting their average weight.

So, how are these vending machines transported? Vending machines are transported by vending companies themselves, like the vending logistics of TCN Vending. These trusted companies have a team of qualified vending machine movers that knows what to do to reduce the risk of injury or property damage.

There are special circumstances, though, that can lead you to transport vending machines on your own. So, knowing the essential steps on moving vending machines is advantageous. But still, whenever possible, seek help from another person to ensure safety and efficiency on the vending machine transport job.

To address your doubts and educate you on the vending machine transport process, read below some tips on how does the vending machine transport work:

Secure the Vending Machine

Measure

The first thing to consider is the exact measurement of the vending machine. Using a tape measure, measure the vending machine’s height, length, and width.

Once measured, estimate the dimensions of the doors and hallways where your vending machine will pass through. And in case the measurements don’t seem to fit, plan a new route for your vending machines.

Having an exact measurement of these things prevent further delays and obstructions on your path.

Unplug

The next thing you should do is check the power “off” mode of the vending machine. Make sure it is unplugged from its wall outlet. It is common knowledge that you can’t transport a vending machine that is still connected to the power source.

Aside from this, unplugging prevents any electric shocks or power interruption. It’s better to be cautious than not at all.

Remove

After turning it off, empty the machine of all the items inside, including all snacks, beverages, and other stock products. Then, arrange them in a box and group them per item. In that way, you won’t have a hard time putting them back.

This step is essential because it helps reduce the weight of the machine. It also reduces the risk of spilled drinks and snacks in the duration of the move.

Power Cord Safety

A dangling power cord can trip the mover. Hence, keeping them in place is a must. Most vending machines have a backport to keep the power cord in place. Make sure that the cable has been enclosed properly.

However, if there is no port in the backside, use packing tape to secure the power cord. And by all means, don’t carelessly wrap the cord around the base of the machine. This act can untangle the line in the moving process.

Position the Tools

In positioning the vending machine for its moving process, you need a sturdy pallet jack, blankets, and ratchet straps.

  1. Take advantage of the pallet jack’s full length and position it carefully under the vending machine to support its total weight in the moving process. Most importantly, double-check its position. Make sure it’s centred because an off-balance vending machine can result in an accident.
  2. Assure that the jack is hoisting the machine above the ground. You can do this by pumping the jack slowly and consider the 1.3 cm rise of the machine every time it is lifted. In other words, the underside of the device is clear off the floor.
  3. To prevent the vending machine from falling off the jack, tie this up securely with a ratchet strap. They should be firmly anchored before moving. However, when there are no ratchet straps, other similar straps can be used.
  4. Use a moving blanket to cushion the delicate parts of the vending machine. This extra drape can protect you and the device from any damage.

When all these tools are in their rightful positions, you should be able to maintain stability during the transit.

Pallet Jack Movement

In the moving process, keep an eye on road bumps or blocks on your path. Make sure to avoid them along the way. It’s highly discouraged to move the vending machine briskly because the faster you go, the more likely the vending machine loses its balance. Thus, take it slowly but surely.

Call for Help

In the event of a mishap, do not hesitate to get help from someone reliable enough and capable of maneuvering the vending machine transport efficiently. Two heads are better because someone can see the directions while the other checks on the machine constantly.

Unload the Vending Machine

Keep the Machine in Place

Once you arrive at your destination, pull up the jack handle to lower the vending machine. It is advised to let the other mover lookout for unexpected shifts in the vending machine.

In addition, please remember to turn the jack carefully to let the front face of the vending machine face the public. Don’t entirely stick it on the wall. Leave some space for the plugging of the cord.

Return

Put the products inside the vending machine. Organise them in their designated racks. The products should be visible outside. Considering how neatly you arranged the items in the box, putting them back should be easy.

Plug the Cord

Once the products are secured, plug the machine into its power outlet on the wall. Then, examine its angle if it is properly aligned. After that, push it back to the wall and switch it on.

Last but not least, grab a chocolate or soda to celebrate a job well done!
